There are plenty of artists who have gone from pop to country, or country to rock, but there aren't many who have successfully transitioned from jazz to country. That is, until Puss n Boots. Jones explains, "This band started about eight years ago. And she [Dobson] booked a gig at a pool hall, and we played there every week until we could get through all the songs," says, laughing and adding that it "took about a year," as the group dissolves into giggles. The three artists who made names for themselves solo continued to combine their trio of musical talent. Their fun began to pay off. Jones recalls the moment they decide to record an album -- dubbed 'No Fools, No Fun' -- officially released Tuesday July We listened to the live recording and we thought, 'Wow, we've been playing for a long time; we kinda sound like a band, we have our own thing now. And it just felt like it was time to make a record," says Jones.
A longtime busman's holiday for Norah Jones , Sasha Dobson , and Catherine Popper , Puss N Boots play a repertoire anchored in American country, folk, and jazz, primarily from the mid-century but also reaching back earlier and later. Their debut album, 's No Fools, No Fun , combined original songs and covers, as did the follow-up, 's Sister. Formed in , Puss N Boots was initially designed as a way for Jones and Dobson to learn how to play guitar. Popper joined the duo not much later and, for years, the trio played various New York clubs, working out a repertory rooted in Americana. They started to get some national recognition on the heels of a cover of the Band 's "Twilight" performed at a memorial for the late Levon Helm.
They were taught that bold sincerity of purpose and a charitable attitude is what makes a man. Really, I'm interested in this too. And he likes the idea of us raising our daughter with the values the Mormon church instills on their youth. Ignore the busy-bodies who want to condemn your significant other.
